The Bosphorus

Saturday I was so lucky enough to take a boat of a friend's out on the Bosphorus.

It was so much fun but pictures will say more...

The best thing about the clubs here is that they are ON the water. You can get dropped off or picked up by a boat and cruise on over the the next club...

We actually went to dinner on a floating island. It was the coolest thing I have ever seen. They had a swimming pool and multiple stories... A ferry picked you up and dropped you off :) It was huge! And there were all these people on the shore letting go of sky lanterns. They were flying in the air next to the stars, I will never forget how beautiful it was.

Formula 1

Is in Turkey. I know nothing about this sport. Is it a sport? Racing right?

Port Aventura5

Yes.

I am aware I'm not chronologically correct.

Just pretend.

So for my birthday my wonderful BFF Beth and I went to Port Aventura for my birthday.
It blew my mind until I blew chunks.

Just kidding friends....

I felt like my head was ripped off by the end of it. All the rides were insane, and a little dangerous feeling, as in... I felt like they were not structurally sound.

I've never been on such rough steel rollercoasters before. But it was a blast.

The best ride was this super mix of scrambler meets the octupus meets teacups.
Beth and I rode on it like 6 times. Eventually the man just let us sit on it and keep going.

In retrospect that's where it all went bad.

In conclusion, it was an amazing day.... but I never want to go back.
Valleyfair vs. Port Aventura - Valleyfair K.O.

Pictures: 1. The best rollercoaster at Port Aventura was spectacular. I've never been on a ride for 10 minutes... 2. The peak of fun.

iJacked

Someone stole my iPhone last week.

Bummer.

I never realized how much I used it: Calendar, Picture, Videos, Notes, Alarm clock, Music, Budgeting, Maps, Spanish Dictionary, Skype, Sudoku, and my virtual zippo (so good for laughs) ....

The big bummer is all the pictures and videos I'll never get back... And the loss of music.

It's actually kind of scary how much people depend on technology now.

To my iPhone: You will be missed. And to whoever stole it: Good luck trying to get my passcode correct and I hope you enjoy waking up to "Jitterbug" but Wham! at 5 am everyday.... BOOM.

Turkish is not like English

I am trying to adjust to the fact that not many people speak english here. I like being out of my comfort zone though....

I think it's because it seems to be the really self contained country. All the music is in Turkish, magazines, movies, celebrities, they don't even import a lot of items.

Except McDonalds, Burger King, Sabarro, Dominoes... I saw 8 Burger King's on the way from the airport to my house and I see a lot of McDonald delivery scooters. YES they deliver her :)

Turkish is extremely difficult. I can't listen to it, it doesn't even sound like they are speaking.

On the way here a guy sitting next to me taught me some turkish words.

Actually, funny story. I didn't realize how much spanish I knew or spoke throughout the day until I came here. I was trying to get a visa and I was talking in Spanish the whole time to the guy... until I realized my mistake. It was actually kind of cool. I keep replying to things in spanish too...

Turkish Lesson 101
Hello - marhaba
How are you - nasilsin
Fine - iyiyim
I want a big mac - i istemek bir yağmurluk büyük

Okay Bloggies

Hey Fans.
(I hope everyone knows that is a joke)

So it's officially DAY 2 in Turkey. I like very much... (I pictured that in the Borat voice).

Problem with turkish people speaking english... they all sound exactly like Borat so I am constantly imitating lines from that movie. I feel like when I get back to the US I will have this permanent accent because I will forget how to speak normal, then all of you will mock me.

SO. First I will update you with the most exciting stuff...

Yesterday: FIRST DAY HERE and I have a job. It was really really cool. I was in a music video for this famous singer here... No, I don't know his name and the lyrics were in turkish but it sounded like "Turka Turka Baybeeee". Also there was a rapper who spoke (sang? rapped?) in english.

So I actually didn't know I was going to have a job until they called me back at 1 or so in the afternoon after 6 castings (I LOVE being busy) And they just told me to bring a bathing suit and a nice dress.... a van picked me up full of people and we were on our way.

So after driving one hour along the coast on the European side of Turkey we get to this beautiful beach club...

WAIT. I forgot to mention when I say "driving" I mean careening out of control at fast speeds whipping around and breaking on a dime every 100 meters. We zoom around at like 120 km/hr on one lane roads that go both ways, all along mountainous terrain. I literally thought I was going to die more then once. Especially when we almost hit the cow in front of us and the car couldn't make it all the way up a hill it was so steep... we started sliding backwards....

ANYWAYS
We get to this club and they have me change into my swim suit and we walk down to the beach and low and behold there is a huge beach party set up with this super high rickety old 30 meter tall tower.

I was actually laughing at the tower because it was swaying in the wind with ladder bits missing when one of the guys told me to go up there.
I started laughing at him because they like to joke here...
"You have to go up there..."
I started laughing again at his joke at which point a handful of people started laughing around me and joking in Turkish.

10 min later I'm standing up inside the guard tower. They repaired the floor of the tower that day and there are like 10 nails sticking up off the floor. I'm not going to even describe the climb up there. I have suppressed it from my memory. And then they play this loud music at which point the 20 bikini clad women (and when I say women I mean the professional strippers they hired) down below start to dance and they yell at me to do the same.

Funny thing is, no one speaks english. NO ONE. And they don't understand that yelling turkish instructions into the megaphone doesn't make me automatically learn turkish.

I still have no idea what's going on at this point. It went from car to dancing 30 meters in the air in 2.5 seconds.

We did a bunch of scenes in bathing suits. Highlights were going on the 4 wheeler down the beach, dancing on top of speakers next to the singer and playing beach volleyball....

Side note: apparently no one in Turkey has ever played volleyball. I had to show everyone how to hit and serve....

After all of this filming which was like 6 or 7 hours we break for dinner (delicious home made kebobs) makeup applying and changing into our dresses.

Apparently when they say nice cocktail dress they really mean super short, super shiny and super gaudy dresses. But then again all the girls besides 2 other models were strippers. And I'm not saying this in a mean way, I mean that was literally was their occupation.

Huge fake silicones, bleach blond fake hair down to the butt, 8 inch high heels....

The fake party scenes were the best. We just have to dance.... except me who has to pretend to seduce the male model across the bar. Which was going pretty good until this woman started dancing like I have never seen before. It was this hair twirling, gyrating mixture of Elaine from Seinfeld and someone having a seizure. She was going crazy and I burst out laughing. I can't wait to see it in the video...
Anyways she got so crazy she knocked down the disco ball with her wild hands and it shattered on the floor, at which point an extra who had been drinking large amounts of absinth tried to pick it up and gashed open his hand. WHICH he didn't notice.

Fast forward, this guy keeps trying to dance with me and the other models, very drunkenly as well as making friends with the male model. He couldn't stop hugging and clapping Leo on the back and blood was all over Leo's shirt. It sounds scary but it was actually really really funny.

Apparently in this club scene I was supposed to see Leo and fall in love and then I dance to seduce him and then he comes over and we dance together.

I am interested in seeing how this music video turns out. The director was so funny, I can't describe in type what he was doing but the instructions he would give in english were so outlandish... Like tips on how to dance good.
"Baybies, scream with your mouth "SAMBA" when you dance, all animals of party yell."

We wrapped up filming at around 1:30 am, and drove another hour home....
